Students need to develop an extensive sight vocabulary to become capable readers. These activities become more complex through the series. Three types of words have been selected for inclusion: words that students are exposed to as part of their daily classroom activity; words that students recognize immediately and are exposed to in written and oral communication; and words that occur mainly in written material but are important for developing fluent reading skills.
